Crochet Tutorial: Getting Started – How to start and chain

Welcome back to Five Stitches Crochet! Today, you start your path toward crocheting your first item. In the video below, I will walk you through reading yarn labels, getting your yarn onto your hook, chaining (ch), and mediating your tension. Wow! That’s a lot in one video, but by the end of this video, you can absolutely say that you crochet.

Intimidated by the process? Take a deep breath. You are not alone. Watch the video — captions are on, so you can watch it without audio if that is easier for you. You can start it, rewind it, pause it as many times as you need and, better yet, you can ask me questions in the comments on this blog or on the Youtube video along the way and I will either respond to your comment or add another video to explain. You’re not alone and you are about to make something from nearly nothing. Isn’t that amazing?

If you like the video, please indicate that by hitting the thumbs up button and click on the bell to subscribe to my YouTube channel for updates when the next video posts. You can also subscribe to this website on my home page to get notifications whenever I update the blog!
